September…done!

Ok so firstly I’m sorry for not posting a new blog in what seems like forever…to be fair I am pretty sure no one has been waiting for a new one but I’m going to write one anyways!

So it has been pretty darn hectic since I last posted something! I am now all moved in and settled into my apartment in Newport…I live with 2 boys from my intake and two girls from march. Our RA who is a march girl gets her own room which is nice but I quite like sharing a room (plus it is pretty big so I am very lucky). I’ve taken a few cheeky pictures of my room and the view the other morning for you all to see!….

Work is cool and in a pattern now of waking up at 6.15am catching the 7.38 train to Tarrytown and then quick tea and off to work via cab with my friend! The train ride is soo pretty as it is right on the water (pretty sure I have told you this already) and nonw the leaves are changing it is even more beautiful…they love the whole fall foliage thing here even have festivals about it!

I’ve explored Williamsburg which is really cool and laid back very much  like shoreditch…going back there today actually to investigate a massive vintage/thirft warehouse! Found a cool little vintage shop in hoboken a town that is like a 10 mins walk away from us along a new path they just built by the river!

I went to this wicked place called the Hudson Terrace on friday night which was so much fun and music was good….drinks were pricey but didn’t need much as we were given free tequila whoop! They has a cover on as it was raining a litle bit but it is def a good place to go…yesterday I went with some of my friends to Spring Street which is in SOHO (south of houston) filled with lots of cool shops and places to eat! We visited Topshop which was lovely to see the old gal again…bought some tights as no where else seems to understand denier as they just have sheer and slightly sheer lol! Then we wondered into chinatown via Little Italy and I introduced my friend to the little delicious delights that are pau.

Oh yeah I went on the free ferry to Staten Island the forgotten borough as they call it! We only went on it because we go past the statue of liberty and get a good view of the old lady with hher torch and crown! Then explored a little bit of Staten Island…there isn’t much there and then went back to Manhattan! Oh I also forgot that to get to Staten Island we had to go to World Trade Centre PATH station (PATH is what we use to get from New Jersey to Manhattan) and it was mental to see ground zero as they are building stuff but you don’t realise the sheer size till you see it! Each floor was an acre big! We went to Battery Park and saw this giant sculpture thing which was actually in the towers and it’s all mangled and broken  but kinda still looks beautiful!

Miss Liberty!

Lat weekend we took a trip down to Coney Island! As the rides offically shut down the weekend before it was quiet but it was such a gorgeous day we sat on the beach and ate ice cream and hot dogs! Walked along the peer where people seem to do a lot of fishing and had  a wonder in the fun fair bit…some people went on the wheel of death I ended up going on some haunted ride with and then paid 25 cents ot a machine with a mystic woman type thing in it to give me my fortune (just like the film big!) but nothing has happened yet! Oh what I also forgot to say was that we saw thhis tthing called shoot the freak…it was the most random and disturbing thing I have ever seen! This guy wasn’t a freak just a normal guy with a helmet and shield and some guy was shooting him with a paintball gun! The person who was getting people to shoot was saying to the guy (through a microphone) “yeah you feel better now you shot the freak…yeah get some of that anger out”…all you saw a a group of English kids looking quite shocked and speechless lol!

Empire State Building, Black SUV’s and Sex in the City…

So you’ll be glad to hear I made it to New York safe and sound – woohoo! The plane was fun as I sat near a few fellow Mounties and everyone was excited and tired I watched the proposal – I highly recommend watching it ladies….very funny indeed!

So we eventually arrived at our hotel The Wolcott around 4pm and had to carry all our luggage up to our room – what a mission..seeing as mine probably weighed about 50kg in total! Anyways I am sharing with a wicked girl and we have a double bed each (we are def one of the lucky ones as most ppl have single beds and their room is like half the size of ours!). We grabbed some food around 8pm and everyone was so shattered by 10pm we were all in bed ready for the next day as it was an 8am start! However I did take this photo on my way back to the hotel…

Monday and Tuesday consisted of information being thrown at us all day from Mountbatten which included absolutely everything from where we are living, who we are living with, what not to do, studying the list goes on! I found out that I didn’t start till Friday so I had a nice break before I started work as most ppl started today (wed).

I was told today that my work placement was picking me up on Friday am in a black SUV to drive me to work (tres excited!) and will drop me off at the station so I shouldn’t go wrong getting home…I hope :s I spoke to my line manager today who seems wicked and is also a fellow brit so luckily gets my sense of humour! I am working up in Tarrytown which is upstate and apparently really pretty and green with deers which I am looking forward to seeing

Myself and some of the other girls decided to take a chilled day  and ended up by Central Park where we happened to catch the filming of Sex and the City! I also met Patricia Field the stylist for the film who is amaaazing!

I think I have written far too much once again so will leave you all in peace! I will try my very best to post soon with more exciting tales (this will be most likely on Sunday as Fri night we are heading to China Town to watch a band and then Sat night is our welcome party which is being held in a club in Hiro Ballroom..apparently used in Kill Bill 1 for the end scene or something!)

The night before the big move….

Soo it is now exactly 12.13am I am positively tired and just about ready to fall into bed! Currently racing through my mind is passport, money, visa stuff, what am I wearing tomorrow, what have I forgotten and they are blatantly going to pick on me to search here and the USA!

What seemed at the beginning (i.e on Monday when I wrote my packing list) a very organised and simple list somehow spiralled out of control ending with me running around Guildford high street at 5pm the day before I fly! Granted I packed 80% of it all yesterday with the help of my lovely friend Jassi I somehow only just stopped about 5 mins ago….I love how I at first thought my Saturday was going to be really chilled

I am very tired and could probably ramble on and on and on talking about phone boxes and the midas touch (both of which are long stories and I have no energy to explain so will probably tell you later on!) so I shall bid you all bon nuit and goodbye! Hopefully I shall be able to blog regularly but not sure when the first real nyc one will be as it will be when I find wifi!
